Meet the sisters behind

The Budding Artists

Hi! I’m Tiffiny, one of the creatives behind this site, and I’m definitely a budding artist - like in the really early stages of budding. In my previous life, I was an elementary school teacher for over a decade. Once my daughter came along, I left the classroom, but kept teaching in one form or another. When I discovered that the public schools where we live don’t have art classes, I began to rely on my sister Kim to help me bring art into my daughter’s life. The more I do craft projects with my daughter (however imperfectly), the more I see their inherent value. I hope to use this site as a way to plant some seeds of creativity in other moms, teachers, and caregivers of littles to encourage you to become budding artists too.

Hi, I’m Kim, the other creative behind The Budding Artists. Art has always been one of my passions; I took my first lessons when I was 8 years old and as an adult, I got more serious about it and explored a variety of mediums. I have always been a neat and tidy person and serving in the Navy really inspired me to maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness. But, since I have had children of my own, I’ve become a little more relaxed in that regard. I still like when things are neat and organized, but it has become more important to provide my daughter with as many creative outlets as possible, and sometimes that means we get a little messy. I’ve found that balancing my desire for cleanliness with the freedom and creativity in artistic expression, while keeping everything as neat and mess-free as possible, has been challenging. When I help to create an activity as a Budding Artist, I rely upon my own experiences and aspire to provide other moms and caregivers with ideas for balancing the mess with the amazing value a creative and artistic experience can have on a developing mind.,
